April showers have been on their job this month, along with the bipolar weather we’ve been getting too. That shouldn’t and honestly hasn’t stopped me from looking for my uniform for the summer. As summer approaches, you may be thinking about getting some new swimwear. But if you’re plus size, it can be somewhat of a challenge to find a swimsuit that fits both your curves and your style. Fortunately, there are plenty of options that will help make you feel like the main character at the beach or pool.
One great option for plus size swimwear is a high-waisted bikini. I still have my first two bikinis that are high-waisted. This style is both trendy and flattering, as it cinches at your waist and accentuates your curves. The high-waist design also provides extra coverage for your tummy, making you feel more at ease, especially if you’re not ready to show off all the way (which is perfectly fine).

Of course, with them being my first bikinis, baby Jonice was not where we are today. I wanted to feel good, but not show off too much. In the end, I loved how I felt in both swimsuits. What I love the most about these bikinis are that they are actually cute and not the cheetah print/flower and stripes combo some designs love to throw on anything over an XL. It gave me to will and desire to expand my swimwear collection to what it is today. I wore my FIRST itsy bitsy teenie weeny not so much polka dot bikini last August. I got it for my Vegas trip in 2021 but didn’t wear it. Call it what you want, but I was not ready to go all out. It wasn’t all bad because I was able to wear my cut-out swimsuit.
If you want to make a bold statement, you might consider a cut-out swimsuit.
These swimsuits feature strategically placed cut-outs that show off just the right amount of skin while still providing support and coverage where you need it. I’m waiting for her to start designing swimsuits again. I need more and will be the model if she asked me to (wink wink).
Of course, there are also more classic options for plus size swimwear, such as a tankini or swim dress. You can’t forget about the coverups! They can easily turn the entire swimsuit into a lewk which would be perfect for a day at the beach or poolside.
The key is to choose a style that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
When shopping for your next swimsuit, be sure to select the right size for you. Trying to fit into a smaller size may make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious, so embrace your curves and opt for a suit that fits well and makes you feel amazing.
Additionally, look for swimwear made from high-quality materials. A well-made suit will last longer, provide better support, and offer more coverage than a cheaper version.
I highly suggest looking into Gabi Fresh’s collaboration with Elloqui! The swimsuits start at $65 and go up to $159.

They have every style, cut and design that you can think of, so you’ll have plenty of options to pick from. If that’s not quite in the budget for you right now, don’t trip. Target, Old Navy, and Shein have swimsuits that aren’t as expensive, and still make you look and feel amazing! Trust me I have a few that stay in rotation during the summer. It’s all the more reason for me to go back and get a few more. Also checkout Swimsuits For All! I found out about them years ago when Gabi Fresh had one of her first collections with them. They literally have any and every kind of swimsuit and coverup you could need.
Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles and colors. You’ll never truly know what you like unless you TRY! You may be surprised at what looks best on you! With a bit of patience and persistence, you’ll find the perfect plus size swimwear for all your summer moves.
I can’t wait to see what this summer will have for me and this here body. No matter what we will be outside, curves and all!
Be safe and see you in the next one
Xoxo, Jonice 💋
