I don’t know about you, but I look forward to the day when I move out of the basement again. Yep, you read that right, again. During my junior year of college, I convinced my parents to let me move off-campus for my senior year. The complex that had my attention was going to be the newest off-campus complex in the area, that also was going to be a gated community at that (the gate stayed broken lol). I knew that with all the amenities that they offered amongst everything else, I knew it was perfect for me. Now that I am a 27-year-old young woman who needs more space than she has, it’s definitely time for me to move out.
I always look at apartments and townhouses on Zillow and other apartment hunting websites (those in my budget and way out of my pay grade). I’ve found a new love for watching empty apartment/move-in day video tours on youtube to grab ideas for my future place. Trust me, I have it all mapped out, except for what moving company I’ll be using because I will not lift a finger that day, and also what I’ll be wearing on that day. No, I don’t have my moving day squared away yet, but I know I will be ready with everything before the time comes.
Usually, when I watch the moving day videos on Youtube, nobody cares what they wear because of course, they’re moving, but I feel like if I’m moving into a new space I can at least be comfy and cute, right? I mean I’m not saying I’m trying to show off for my new neighbors but hey you never know who’s watching. And I mean come on, who said you can’t be cute on your moving day? TBH, you know how the night before the first day of school you would have your fit laid out, just waiting for you the next morning? That’s probably how I will be the night before I move lol It’s a new chapter that I’ ve been waiting to flip to and baby I must look decent or better lol. Plus knowing me, I’d like to take an “all moved in ” pic with keys in my hand in the living room. I already know my mother will be taking pictures once everything I moved in. I want to look good as I’m hanging one of my paintings I’ve collected on the wall or making my new bed. You have to be camera-ready messing with Rev lol.
This was my move-in day at my new apartment. Can’t you see how excited I was? My outfit that day was really simple because A: I was moving (duh lol) and B: We were coming from Maryland, so I wanted to be as comfortable on the way down there. Tank top and shorts were definitely the way to go for that hot @$$ day lol.
With the pandemic going on most of us have been lounging in sweats and oversized hoodies. This is also giving the online stores a new category for us to shop in; the stay at home collections or WFH (working from home) looks. Shopping from these categories will give you exactly what you need for moving day and every day after that.

Even if the sites I provided don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, use the lewks as an inspiration with pieces you already have in your closet. Need new sweats? Rack up on some but wear it with an old t-shirt that you can fold or tie into a crop top. Want some biker shorts? Get a pair from one of your favorite online stores or take an old pair of leggings and cut them. Sometimes you don’t have to get new pieces, you just need some new inspirations. But shopping for new pieces feels so good lol. Mixing new and old is the way to go.
You now officially have the keys to your new place. What will you do next? Flick it up in your moving fit. You’ll definitely be ready with these looks as your guide!
Happy moving!
See you in the next one
Be safe, wear your masks, and wash your hands!
