Dress or not?

Happy Friday my babieesss! If the humdity and rain has been anything like Maryland’s you probably have been in the house and in front of the ac like me lol. At one point I thought I might have to build an ark because the rain just wouldn’t stop. But it seems like we might be getting a break this weekend! Since thats the case I think its time to bring out a new favorite.

I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw my mama’s friend in it. I complimented her on the dress and she had the nerve to say “you can have it if you want. I’ll wash it and bring it over next week.” From that moment on I knew that I had to be seen in it. I would have to make time to be seen in this beauty. Brunch, out on a saturday, or anywhere, I needs it on me asap.

The following week she dropped off the dress and I gave her a dress she’s been eyeing in my closet. Aint nothing like a quick swap out lol. When I put on the dress on it didn’t fit!!! I shed a tear becuase in the picture it looks perfect, but with it being made out of chiffon I could barely move my arms and my chest felt like I had on too many sport bras. My dreams of floating in this dress were dead on sight.

Weeks went by and I kept staring at it trying to figure out how I was going to get into it comfortably. Then it clicked, CUT IT!!! I’ve always been scissor happy when it comes to tshirts and jeans, but cutting this dress scared me.

I did it anyway and it couldn’t be happier. As much as I would have loved to keep the dress intact, this was the best option. I can still ‘float’ in the skirt persay. Having a maxi skirt like this can still be worn to the possible functions I wanted to wear the OG piece to. Throw on the perfect shirt, sandals, and accessories and be on your way. Wherever I go out I can garentee that if not all, majority of the eyes will be on me.

Its bright, long, and flowy. The perfect addtion to ride the summer out to. With the trips I have coming up, just know that this will be in my suitcase a few times.

If you happen to have the same problem as me don’t get scissor happy unless its the best option for you. If you feel like the dress or skirt can be tailored to fit you perfectly, do that! This was a quick and doable fix, but definitely isn’t the only option. Whatever you do, do it for your comfort and style. Make it work for you!
