How do you put this year in words? I’m sitting here reflecting through my year, and all I can say is WOW! After dealing with another year of Covid and getting it myself, we all have lived our lives to the best of our abilities.
I was one of the people screaming “WE OUTSIIIIDE” the minute I got my shots. I made sure that I was following the CDC guidelines (which are garbage right now, but that’s another topic for another day) but still having fun. After being in the house for a whole year, this year was going to be one for the books, and I must say it was!
If I did one thing this year, I honestly ATE well!

This summer, I participated in DC Restaurant Week. I tried a few places I’ve never been to and made a list of where I want to eat next! With the help of Open Table, I know that the list will get longer. Make sure to stick around with me to get a little taste of everything. If you need a few places to try going into the new year, here are some of my favs:
Barcelona Wine Bar
Canopy
Proper 21K
Half Smoke
Queretaro Authentic Mexican Restaurant
Smashing Grapes
This year I also took time to treat myself by getting my nails done regularly. I had one bad experience at a nail salon for my birthday. I made sure that I never settled for a design or was treated just any way ever again. So I invested in getting a nail tech whose work speaks for itself. Just know that I won’t be going anywhere else when my nails come out and look like this every time!

Do you want to know what else I did this year? HOSTED A WEEKEND OF EVENTS AND SOLD SOME PIECES, OKAY?! I was so nervous about our 6cessful weekend, but it was just that: SUCCESSFUL! We had the chance to make a significant move by sending some of our best sellers to Ivy Kungu, who loooooves Domanique!
Everything with the boutique has been *chef’s kiss* and will only get better with time! Make sure to visit and shop with us soon! Some new arrivals are on the way but you didn’t hear it from me ๐
One thing that I truly enjoyed about 2021 is that it allowed me to go back to concerts. Last year I enjoyed the home concerts that seemed to happen every week, but it did not compare to a live show. I’ve seen Gene Noble, Xavier Omรคr, Matt McGhee, Sango, and Kaytranada! Each show was an experience in itself, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Kaytranada wasn’t my favorite.
You had to be there to get what I’m saying. Hopefully this video will sum it up for you lol. I was floating for a good week after attending that show. I probably watched every video from that night a thousand times and then some by now. I can already tell you that I will be the same way next year when I see Jazmine Sullivan and Lucky Daye! Yes, I’ve seen them both before, but they have put out new music (features and their own) and will be performing at larger venues this time around! If that doesn’t let you know that my treat yoself journey is off to a great start, I don’t know what will!
I can go on and on about all the looks I’ve worn or tell you every detail about 2021, but this post would never end. I will tell you one more thing-this year rocked me. Better yet it has continued to mold me. I also want you to see that I am still here. Through the ups and downs, God’s hand in my life hasn’t budged! I’m exactly where I need to be!
Here’s to more successful business moves, new places to travel to, my style elevating, sticking to my boundaries, buying from more black businesses, getting more out of my comfort zone, and so much more.
Be safe + Happy New Year!
See you in the next one
Xoxo, Jonice ๐
