Versatility is key when you’re trying to utilize pieces in your wardrobe multiple times. Ever since the GCGme post I wanted to put more versatility into play. When it comes to this “On The Up And Up” Dress from Rebdolls, I definitely wanted to show off in it again, but not as a dress. So I took it upon myself to have a little fun with it.
I wore this BAAAAAAAD dress to District of Curves Showcase this year and slaaayed! It hugs my curves so well and is my favorite midi to date. Off the shoulder and it has bell sleeve? Yall know I had to get it the minute I saw it. Bell sleeves are right there next to stripes for me now. On the right top or dress it an give it more appeal to the eye. The simplest detail can change a piece very quickly for me. Pockets in a dress is one for me, but thats not why we’re here lol.
Moving along…
Since day one of working at my former job FTF, I fell hard for midi dresses, especially since they’re plain. They allow you to be versatile, going from day to night. Add a few accessories and you can have a completly different look. This dress, in particular, is too. Wear a pair of heels to umph up the sexiness or for more comfort grab those sandals.
How did I even get the idea to wear the dress as a shirt? Simple. Instead of pulling the dress down to its complete length I folded it to the length I wanted it to be.
TBH, this isn’t the first or the last time I’ve done this to a dress in my closet. I’m an advocate for playing dress up. Listen to me, you’re never too old. How do you think everybody picks out their outfits every day? You may not technically put the clothes on, but you may lay them out. Its a form of dress up.
Have you ever had a vision of a certain outfit in your mind and when you tried it on it didn’t work out like your thought? I’ve been there plenty of times. This is why playing dress is key. You never know what you truly have in your closet until you try it on.
Take time to get to know your wardrobe again. You may never know what you can repurpose into something “new.” You can get some inspiration from me and turn a few of your dresses into tops. Shooooooot wear that maxi skirt as a dress. Whatever works for you, do it! Have fun, its the best way to reinvent your style and step out your comfort zone.
