I gave a quick overview of my birthday weekend on Instagram, but now I want to share a little more tea. Grab your mugs and get comfy.
Friday, I hosted a caviar night with a few friends, and it was perfect. My love for caviar started earlier this year, so I wanted my friends to discover it too. Knowing I wanted to feel comfortable and sexy at home, I searched my closet all day and struggled to create a look. So I went with my Renaissance painting dress from Pretty Little Thing. I’ve worn it countless ways. That night, I wore her proudly—back out, rolls showing, thighs making the dress ride up. I felt delicious. Expect a theme with my clothes this summer. Will you notice it?
Saturday, I wore a button-down top backwards. Sounds a little wild, huh? Trust me, it was far from it. I was going to wear this fit on a different day but they weather didn’t want me to be great that weekend, but I guess tht weekend was meant to be. The buttons didn’t show (they were small and brown), and if they did, whoever was looking was staring too hard lol. And guess what? My back was all the way out, lol. Shockerrrr!
Anywho, it was a little too cold for the distressed jeans, so I opted for the black jeans. Still went together and gave! I feel like my hair was the cherry on top of everything because baby, I was going through it lol. I have this tradition where I go to a few museums in the area on my birthday or on that weekend. I love art; all forms really. So I make sure that I find myself in somebody’s gallery or museum, no matter where I am. One thing I love about living in this area, the art is freeeee! The Smithsonian truly has me spoiled. So we took advantage and went museum/art gallery hopping, got boozy ice cream, and ended the night at a local bar to bring in my new year. The day was everything I needed it to be. The tone? SET!!!
The birthday looks were my favorites. I can’t even lie. I started the day off in SOACG’s first original piece!
I told myself last year that I would wear something I designed for that day, and I’m glad I was able to keep that promise to myself. Next birthday fit will be handmade by me. I was so pressed when the dresses got here. If you can’t tell, I was worried sick about them getting here on time. Do we have a release date? Yes and no, but know it is coming up. I’m sick, I didn’t take many pictures, but that will change soon. Once we left brunch, or should I say lack thereof lol. We went and pregamed a little more for the next move. I change into my old faithful, green ruched Morganeliz skirt, which I wear as a dress from time to time.
It gave BAWDY, you hear me. It always does, so I knew it was going to make me feel like I had all eyes on me, even if I didn’t. Was the party what we wanted it to be? far from it, but we made the most out of it and had fun. I spend too much time being serious sitting at my desk to just stand around at the function waiting for the party to start. Wherever I go, I am the party. I love to have a good time so if me and my homegirls have to start it up, so be it! But the dj had the nerve to play SHOTS by Lil John and then somehow mixed Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. Once I heard that, I packed my shit up so quick and made the quickest exist lmaooo He wasn’t about to play in my face. Not on my birthday lol.
Once we left we went to another spot where the DJs were doing exactly what they were supposed to do. We were there for a minute before we went and ended our night with some goooood food at Bar Taco. Hands down some of the best tacos I’ve had in a while. I’m already planning my next trip lol
It’s been a week since my birthday, and I can say that it will only go up from here. This year will be one of my best. I will give myself more opportunities to be seen, I will make your curves feel honored. At the end of the day, I will do everything to the best of my abilities to make you and, most importantly, myself proud. If you take anything from my birthday weekend, take this: ENJOY YOURSELF IN EVERYTHING YOU DO and LOVE WHAT YOU WEAR. Everything else will fall into place afterwards.
