Defrosting Season

When I say defrosting, what could I possibly mean? Is winter finally coming to a close? Are the days getting longer and warmer? Yes, all that and then some.

My birthday is also part of my annual defrosting process. After months of being inside, grinding, and minding my business, March always reminds me that it’s time to step back outside and enjoy life againI don’t know about you, but my birthday is a very serious day around here. I let my parents have their fun on their birthdays, but let’s be honest, the whole month belongs to me lmao. Recently, I’ve been seeing posts about how Pisces always seem to have the birthday blues, and that’s so far from the truth for me. If I’m crying this year, it’s because I’m laughing extremely hard, grateful, and most importantly, I’m having a great time! Now, my PTO has been accepted, which gives me the full range to plan out the entire weekend. I won’t go into detail because that’s going to be in a different post. Do I have anything new to wear that weekend? At least not yet. Last year, I wore a dress that had been sitting in my closet for a while. It was another birthday dinner, but it turns out that my birthday was the main event perfect for the dress. If I end up doing the same thing but with something different, so be it. I’m not going to stress myself out lol If anything, I’ll take myself shopping later on.

You’re probably trying to figure out what’s going on with the dresses…well, I’m here to report that they have officially been shipped. I’m a little worried about them not getting here on time due to the man who’s apparently the president starting WWIII. I’m going to breathe through it all and do my very best not to freak out. God got me, so He got us. The dress does finally have a name, but we’ll reveal it soon. Just know when you see the dress, you’ll understand exactly why that’s her name.

Are you a gardener like me? If so, then defrosting for us means that the ground is finally waking back up and we can start to germinate our seedlings for an abundant season. If you’re in warmer weather already, then lucky you!! I have my own garden that I will be working on, but I also run the gardening club at my job. We started last year with a very small selection because we started late, but out of everything we planted, the jalapenos were the plant that kept giving. I hope this season that everything we plant will give us so much that we can share with other residents (even if they laughed at the thought of joining the club) and the community.

Over the last few months, it may have felt like there was no room for growth or you were stuck because January felt like a year, and February lingered. Some tie it to seasonal depression. Others might have had life hit them with one curveball after the next. All in all, life will do whatever it wants without any warning. I think March is the perfect month to defrost from all of that and truly stretch into something new. Is there a class or activity that you’ve been looking into or a concert that your favorite artist(s) have announced? Go ahead and do the thing. Shake off everything that has been weighing you down and move. Go to a party where your favorite DJ is hosting and have a great time until the wee hours of the morning. Sign up and ATTEND that class. Do something new or revisit something you loved before but stopped for you. Defrosting isn’t about moving to the beat of somebody else’s drum. It means that everything that you’ve been through has given you the chance to grow from it, and it’s finally time to show the people and yourself that you haven’t gone anywhere. Some animals hibernate and pop back out like nothing happened because it’s all a part of their routine, their plan. So if you have been hibernating, then it’s time to come back outside and play. What does defrosting look like for you this season? Do the thing, wear the thing, say the thing. Just make sure that at the end of the day, you didn’t let anything hold you back.

Are you going outside more? Starting something new? Revisiting something you used to love?

Leave a comment below. I want to hear about it.

See you in the next one

Xoxo, Jonice 💋
