Spark Joy

January had no business lasting 4 months lol Between planning my second solo trip, working on SOACG, and navigating everyday life, I’ve been diving into things that spark joy—whether it’s a good book, a fire playlist, a TV show, or adding new pieces to my wardrobe (because why not?). So, I figured why not share what I’ve been into.

Way back in high school, I was an avid reader (because it was a requirement for AR), but it’s what got me into finding the books I liked to read. I am a romance, drama, smut kind of girl! I’ve always been a romance, drama, and smut kind of girl. Was I reading Zane’s books a little too soon? Maybe, but mind your business lol. So, when the lockdown started I found myself getting a few books whenever I was in Target. Those visits put me onto different authors like Jasmine Guillory and Tia Williams. Now, I own almost all of their books and I plan to keep adding to my collection. I recently finished one of the newest books on my shelf, A Love Song For Ricki Wilde.

Girl, Tia Williams does not play fair. Every book I’ve read by her, I’ve finished it in 3 days, tops! If you’re a fan of Seven Days In June or The Perfect Find (don’t watch the movie on Netflix. It doesn’t TOUCH the details in the book) then you will have no problem getting through this beauty. I have to finish the Biridgerton book about Benidict’s story because they just put out the trailer for season 4. I need a little inside scoop this time around. Them breaking up those 8 episodes like they did in Season 3 will never sit right with me lol. I will get through them too quickly so I figured I slow burn the whole thing for myself while I still can. Hopefully, I won’t get any new books by then lol (that’s a lie, we all know I will).

When I need an “escape” from social media I either go to two places; Tumblr or Pinterest. Let me just say that Big P has been a safe place, and I’ve pinned a few looks I need to recreate. I’ll post a few so y’all can get a feel for my boards—just know, the fits give Moody in her 30s or as my Pinterest board is called 30s and Beyond.

I have always been a casual girlie, and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. The goal is to treat myself to new clothes that keep this style going and growing. When I’m not on Pinterest, also utilize the ‘collections’ on IG. Before my personal account got I hacked, I had plenty of collections dedicated to my style, decorating my big girl house, trips, places I wanted to go and so much more. But instead of being upset about what I loss, I’m thinking from another perspective of I get the chance to start over. I’m not going to lie I HATE that I don’t have everything but we move.

Is anyone else hooked to Paradise like I am? I’ve been watching my gotos like New Girl, Love Is Blind, High Potential, and Abbott Elementary but girl nothing is compared to this show. It takes you on many twists and turns in the first 10 minutes. What I love is that Hulu isn’t giving me the chance to binge the entire season like they know I will. I won’t say too much but just know I can’t stand Sinatra, O’l if I ruled the world headass… So you know I am glued to my TV or laptop every Tuesday so I don’t miss a thing. Now if Shonda wants to do Season 4 like this I won’t complain.

Discovering new books, shows, and fashion finds is my little escape—and it always gives me something fun to talk about. Have you watched any of the shows or read any of the books I mentioned? If not, what are you watching or reading right now? I can’t wait to take some of those looks from Pinterest and make them me. Who knows I might show up on your Pinterest one day.

May you find something new that sparks joy for you this week

See you in the next one

Xoxo, Jonice 💋
