Lately, all I seem to wear is sweats. I’ve fallen into a phase of grays, joggers, and all things comfort. Standing in front of a closet bursting with clothes, a few dressers, and a chair piled with growing folded garments, I can’t help but feel a sense of frustration. It’s not that I don’t have anything to wear; it’s more about not having the right pieces that resonate with who I am right now. In 2022, I started the journey to elevating my style. I found that my style goes from feminine, maximalist, and the occasional minimalist aesthetics. Have I added pieces that reflect these aesthetics? Not as much as I would like. Perhaps you’ve found yourself in a similar situation or are currently in the same boat. I wouldn’t say I’m stuck, but my jeans are pilling in the thighs, I need more pants…period, my shoe collection needs an upgrade (again), and I’m craving more wardrobe basics.
In acknowledging this, I’ve come to the realization that it’s time for a change. I possess timeless pieces that have journeyed with me through the years, but now, I’m seeking something more. My plan is to embark on a personal journey of self-discovery through fashion. No longer will I settle for clothing simply because it’s cute and fits; instead, I’m shopping with intention. Each item I purchase will be look for its versatility, longevity, and alignment with my budget. The goal is to curate a wardrobe that not only reflects my style but also brings joy and confidence with every wear. The summer outfit recap gives you a look at what I’ve been wearing lately. Of course now that its winter my moves have slowed down, so I haven’t been Ms. Put It On as much. But this year, I’m going to be that girl, even on my off days.
To execute this plan, I’ve decided to treat myself to a small shopping spree (I wouldn’t even call it a spree..more like a new part of my treat myself journey) every other month. This regular schedule will allow me to consistently invest in pieces that truly resonate with me…accessories included. Shopping will no longer be a chore but a thoughtful and enjoyable experience again. I plan to infuse more color and prints into my wardrobe, ensuring that each addition complements existing pieces. The focus is on building a collection that speaks to who I am today and aligns with the style I envision for the future.
I’ve realized that in the hustle of being everything for everyone, I’ve lost a part of myself. Juggling responsibilities at work and maintaining SOACG has been rewarding, but it’s time to rediscover the essence of Jonice. This year, I’m committed to finding that missing piece of myself that I’ve neglected. Last year, I made a small effort, but this time, it will be more intentional and focused. The journey isn’t just about adding new items; it’s about reconnecting with my identity and expressing it through my style.
To guide this style transformation, I’ve curated numerous boards on Pinterest, visualizing how I’d love my style to evolve. Together, let’s explore how this intentional approach to fashion will not only elevate my wardrobe but also contribute to a renewed sense of self.
Happy New Year, babies! We’re one week in, only 51 more to go.
See you in the next one
Xoxo, Jonice π
